The latest Fifty Year Old Tawny - Quinta do Noval
Quinta do Noval is the latest Port shipper to release a 50-Year-Old Tawny Port. Made exclusively from grapes grown on the Noval estate and aged for fifty years and more in 640 litre lodge pipes, a high proportion of the initial wine has evaporated which has concentrated the natural sugars and acidity to 181 g/l and 8.6g/l respectively. Some older tawnies can be overburdened with sugar but as Christian Seely, Managing Director of Quinta do Noval remarks, this wine has an ‘austere purity…that will take us to a new dimension in Tawny Port’. He adds that ‘Noval has always been known as a Port house capable of producing both great Vintage Ports and old Tawny Ports…this wine is a supreme expression of the Noval style of Tawny’.
